ENGAGE IN AN INNOVATIVE DIALOGUE WITH WENDE HILSENROD REGARDING ETHICS AND ADVOCACY

  • Discuss the code of ethics for advocates
  • Develop an action plan when faced with ethical dilemmas

About the Speaker:

Wende Hilsenrod is the current Training/Human Trafficking Specialist at Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA). She works daily to ensure that communities across Texas understand the impact of sexual violence and its effect on people.  Wende began her career with victims of violence as SafePlace’s Advocate on The Family Violence Protection Team in Austin, and it was through this position that she discovered the challenges that advocates encounter when faced with ethical dilemmas. Her areas of expertise include: underserved populations, chemical dependency issues and sexual assault, communications, and human trafficking. Wende holds a B.S. in Communications Sciences and Disorders, and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Texas-Austin and a M.A. in Human Services from St. Edwards University in Austin. She is a drug and alcohol counselor, a trained community mediator, and a certified TCLEOSE instructor.

This training session qualifies for 3.0 continuing education hours.
