Please join the Dallas County Sexual Assault Coalition on April 9, 2016 for an event that promises to be educational, enlightening, and highly entertaining!
The mission of this walk is to engage men in being part of the solution to ending sexual violence.
This event asks men to LITERALLY WALK ONE MILE IN WOMEN’S HIGH-HEELED SHOES.
Why? Because sexual violence does not just affect victims, it affects everyone who cares about them-families, friends, coworkers & communities.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Dallas County is the primary fundraising event for the Dallas County Sexual Assault Coalition (DCSAC). DCSAC members include victim service agencies, medical and mental health agencies, law enforcement and dedicated community leaders. Proceeds from this event support DCSAC’s efforts for community outreach, awareness, training, and education to prevent sexual violence and improve services to survivors.
The realities of sexual violence
Every two minutes someone in America is raped. In Texas, one in five women is a victim of sexual assault.
That means the odds are high that someone you know and care about has been or may become the victim of sexual violence. It may be your mother, sister, friend, partner, spouse, coworker, or child.
So take a step out of our comfort zone, put on a pair of heels, and join us in our fight to eliminate sexual violence.
