Walk A Mile®

We are sad to announce that the 4th Annual Walk a Mile in her Shoes Event has been cancelled. Please view the notice below.

Dear Supporters,

I must regrettably notify you that the 2016 “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event which the Dallas County Sexual Assault Coalition (DCSAC) has been working hard to coordinate has been cancelled until further notice. Although many coalition and community members worked diligently to support the event, a lack of registrants and sponsors at this time has obligated us to push the walk back to a later date. As you know, DCSAC has always played a vital role in bringing awareness of sexual violence and support to sexual assault survivors throughout Dallas County. We value our relationships with survivors and supporters and wanted to inform you as soon as possible. We are saddened to make this decision and hope that any inconvenience caused is minimal. We also hope that you will continue to support the valuable work of DCSAC and its member agencies. Although the DCSAC 2016 “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event has been cancelled, we intend to continue honoring those impacted by sexual violence with a great event in 2017. DCSAC is taking the time to strategically plan and revamp the walk. We are looking forward to announcing an exciting, community inclusive awareness event for 2017. More information will be forthcoming as plans take shape.

Thank you for your support of the Dallas County Sexual Assault Coalition, our member agencies, and survivors in our community.

The realities of sexual violence

Every two minutes someone in America is raped. In Texas, one in five women is a victim of sexual assault.

That means the odds are high that someone you know and care about has been or may become the victim of sexual violence. It may be your mother, sister, friend, partner, spouse, coworker, or child.
